Happy New Year
Hello!
Happy New Year!
I woke up this morning grateful for a warm house, flannel sheets, and a clear head. That appreciation soon extended to a plowed driveway, good tread on my boots, and lined overalls.
Snow brings a change of routine. Without it, our dog Daisy’s morning toilette is simple. But when a 16”-tall dog encounters snow higher than her nose, she heads up to the plowed roads. Not a safe solo venture. So, before I’ve finished my coffee, her puffer jacket and all my own layers are on. The squeaks and scrunches underfoot, fresh air, rosy cheeks, and a happy dog are worth it.
With a year of growing and selling at the Davis farmers market under my belt, I’m ready to get more Canaan Valley Flower Company flowers and herbs into hands, homes, and weddings in 2026. Thanks to those of you who spent time talking flowers with me this fall. You sparked many ideas!
Today’s photo is a bouquet dill seedhead. A study in winter whites. Always beautiful, and this year extra stylish. Pantone’s Color this year is “Cloud Dancer” — “soft and ethereal,” but effectively white. (TBH, it was more like “Windchill Dancer” when I took this photo.) This means white flowers won’t just be for weddings this year; they’ll show up in everyday bouquets, too.
Tell me, flower fashionistas (and fashionistos)… how do you feel about white flowers? Hit reply if you’re inclined — I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Let there be flowers!
