Green is bursting out all over!

Hello!

Well — the 2026 season has officially begun with the impromptu pop-up herb sale in Canaan Valley last Sunday afternoon!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by after my quick email invitation. I was so very happy to see you. Honestly, despite the somewhat numb toes, I’m feeling quite encouraged by how it all went.

The location, next to the Canaan Valley Garage on Route 32, seems to work. The herbs withstood the chilly afternoon just fine, and some people stopped simply out of curiosity — enough proof of concept for me that a farm stand in Canaan Valley is a good idea.

So, I’ll be back again this Sunday from 2:30–5:00 with more fresh herbs and hellebore plants. If you’re out in Canaan Valley, stop by and see me.

There’s progress in Thomas too. Thanks to Tom’s wheelbarrow, shovel, and crusher-run work, plus help from the woodworking students at the Rubenstein Center, the space by the Christmas store is steadily taking shape. Paint and signage are still ahead, but it’s coming together.

Right now, both locations are still soft launches. I truly appreciate all the encouragement, feedback, and support as they evolve.

I’ve also started getting calls about plants, which are always welcome. If you’d like herbs or hellebores set aside, just hit reply. And if there are other plants you’re wondering about for this season, I’m always happy to talk through possibilities.

Now that the yards of white frost cloth have finally been pulled back, I’m enjoying the green. What a contrast! There are even a few sunny patches along the side of the trails where swathes of tiny light blue bluets have appeared. Nature’s calico dream. So charming. Ephemeral.

Their timing is perfect for the WV Wildflower Pilgrimage this weekend. Two whole days away from flower farming… though still entirely full of flowers. I’ll do my best to cope.

Hope to see you Sunday afternoon in Canaan Valley.

Let there be flowers — and herbs!

Lizz
